I bought this set about a year ago for around $130. The tools are Craftsman and inherently great but the box sucks. I want to be a cool kid and put stickers on my tool box but I don't want to put them on a box that I'm going to get rid of soon. Are there any good all metal 3 drawer boxes out there? The craftsman one is $70. !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!

I do not like my Husky. The bar that locks the drawers shut broke very early on, and that sucks for a tool box you carry in your hand.

check around on garagejournal - I always find cool stuff I don't need there.

I have the Craftsman 3-Drawer that I got for Christmas a couple years ago. It holds the tools I keep in my truck toolbox. Works great and has held up to some abuse.

I was looking at them. Thanks. I was close to buying one, since they're cheap.

Homak makes a decent box I've heard.

Or you can try Stack-On

Both boxes are offered in red as well. A little suggestion, if you plan on carrying that box anywhere get a fold-able dolly. Once you fill that with tools it'll be quite heavy.

Ha, I have that same box. It works for me. It's not the highest quality, but it holds everything together.

I have had a Huot top and a Waterloo bottom for a jillion years. Still work great. Buy quality and it will last forever. Or, check CL for deals on used. Quality does not wear out.

Allow me to climb onto my soapbox for a minute, as I'm a bit of a tool snob.

The quality of Craftsman toolboxes (which are made by Waterloo) has gone way downhill in the last several years. Sure, they feel OK in the store, but load them up with tools, and they're really flimsy. I have a nice Craftsman 3-drawer rallybox (black wrinkle finish and a built-in lock), but its probably 10 or even 12 years old, so I don't know if the new ones compare, plus they're $70.

I hate to say it, but all the reasonably priced boxes are all shit. But luckily we have craigslist. What you want is something old, that has been well taken care of. Last year I picked up a beautiful Proto cantilever box, that's built like a brick shithouse, glides beautifully open and closed, has a cool brown wrinkle finish, looks nearly brand new, and only cost me $25. Used is the way to go for toolboxes.

Oh, and when you start breaking ratchets, and you will break those ratchets, go back to craigslist for some good used ratchets. The sockets you have are totally fine, but those ratchets are extremely fra-gee-lay. I know they'll give you a new one, but it sucks when you're in the middle of a job, and your ratchet breaks AGAIN.

My dad has an old set of craftsman ratchets, the ones with all metal construction, no plastic parts. Ive gone through two of the plastic switch ones and always end up using the old ones to finish the job. I might see what the pawn shop has. They have some sorry tools but I remember some nice boxes.

Pawn shops can be hit or miss, but sometimes you get lucky. Always worth a look.
